It’s true there are 8 modes, but it takes some time to bump through each one to choose which one you like best. Worse yet, you have to repeat this process every time you turn them off and then on again. So it gets to be a bit like Las Vegas if you let it cycle through all 8 modes repeatedly. Wish I’d just bought some with just one mode – ON until turned OFF.

These lights never made it out of our house. The packaging is inane and it should be noted on the box that they come pre-tangled. We have decorated our house for 23 years and so have had lots of Christmas lights, this is the only one that made me wish I was Jewish, or Hindu, or Atheist. You’ll feel like some main character in a Greek myth, a Sisyphus or some such, untangling one end only to find the other is tangled and when you finally get it detangled it only takes one way ward step to get them all tangled again. No colored snowflakes for us this year, threw them right in the trash.

The lights are beautiful but I recommend not buying them. The snowflakes snap onto the lights but several of the snowflakes keep falling off of the bulbs. In addition, the lights are virtually impossible to untangle. I would have rated these as “0” but it is not part of the rating system.
